Filipe Maia Broeto: Provision of legal services in an extremely individualized and artisanal way

Dr. Filipe Maia Broeto

The firm Filipe Maia Broeto Advocacia is guided by providing legal services in an extremely individualized, artisanal way, configuring what is currently called a “boutique law firm”.

Amidst the excess of technology and a range of professionals who seek to serve the greatest possible number of clients, to offer several specialties in the same environment, Filipe Maia Broeto Advocacia chooses to take the opposite path: it restricts its performance to Criminal Law, with a strong emphasis on Economic Criminal Law, as well as Sanctioning Administrative Law — which is not infrequently a reflection or development of criminal proceedings involving economic and functional offenses (practiced by public officials).

The vision of Filipe Maia Broeto Advocacia, the result of its creator, Criminal Lawyer Filipe Maia Broeto, is that excellence is not in generality; that freedom is supreme and the compass of human life, which is why it deserves exclusive attention and does not allow for being interpreted as just another area of activity in the Office, but rather “the area” of action.

Still, he believes that there is no way to deliver the “best in the biggest”. The best professional practice in the greatest number of cases is, in the view of the bank’s creator, unattainable. Therefore, Filipe Maia Broeto Advocacia’s philosophy is to act in a reduced number of cases, to enhance constant attention to each customer, in a personal and unique way.

With this vision, they seek to provide the client, who entrusts the defense of their rights to the Firm, what is most valuable today: exclusivity, time, attention, dedication, and, above all, the provision of legal services based on technical excellence, which is measured in the constant updating of the team and also in the dense preparation of legal studies published in the most varied – and select – media, at national and regional levels, in the scope of Criminal Law and Sanctioning Administrative Law.

Filipe Maia Broeto Advocacia’s main areas of practice are Economic Criminal Law — involving tax crimes, against the Public Administration and the economic order — and Administrative Sanctioning Law, notable actions of administrative dishonesty.

Filipe Maia Broeto, the owner of the Firm, is a criminal lawyer, with intense experience in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law. Specialist in Constitutional and Administrative Law, from Escola Paulista de Direito – EPD, also provides technical defense for citizens subjected to administrative misconduct proceedings, typical of Sanctioning Administrative Law, arising from criminal cases involving public agents or individuals who deal directly with the public thing.

Master’s in Economic Criminal Law from the Faculty of Law of the International University of La Rioja, Spain, he has a specialization in Economic Criminal Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais – PUC/MG, Criminal Procedure from the University of Coimbra/PT-IBCCrim, Criminal Sciences and in Public Law, both from Universidade Cândido Mendes, as well as certification in Criminal Compliance by the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul – PUC/RS.

With an update on “crime doesn’t pay: blanqueo, enriquecimiento ilícito y decomiso”, by the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Salamanca – USAL/ES, Filipe Maia Broeto also developed studies on “Advanced Subjects of Public and Private Law”, by the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela – USC/ES.

In addition to dedicating himself to law, part of his time is dedicated to teaching, working as a professor in Undergraduate and Graduate Courses, exclusively in the areas of Criminal Law (Economic Criminal Law) and Criminal Procedural Law.

He maintains a large academic production, appearing as the author of technical-legal books and essays, published in Brazil and abroad, as well as participating in several academic research groups within the scope of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law.

Member of the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences – IBCCRIM; the Brazilian Institute of Economic Criminal Law – IBDPE; the Institute of Criminal Sciences – ICP; the Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association, Mato Grosso Section – OAB/MT; and the Institute of Mato Grosso Lawyers – IAMAT.

He is currently Director of the Legal Education Commission of the Brazilian Association of Criminal Lawyers – Abracrim.
